Abstract: The article analyzes the number of cows, their productivity, as well as manufactured products according to the data of the Russian Federation for the period from 1994 to 2023, including in the context of farm categories. A quantitative assessment of the structural changes in milk production is given. The dynamics of productivity – milk yield per 1 cow – was studied in general for all categories of farms, as well as for agricultural organizations, households of the population and peasant (farmer) farms, including individual entrepreneurs. A retrospective analysis of milk production was carried out, and the calculated value of cow's milk production was obtained. The assessment of the extensive, quantitative factor of the number of cows includes a description of changes in all categories of farms. A significant differentiation of the values of the intensive, qualitative factor of dairy herd productivity depending on the category of farms is illustrated.
