Abstract: The article reveals the issues of improving the food safety of the Russian Federation in the context of the role of the state and the participation of social entrepreneurship. The purpose of the article is to determine directions and measures to improve the sustainability of the food safety system of Russia in the interaction of the state and socially-oriented business based on the results of the study. On the example of Russian and foreign experiences, the issues of involvement of a socially oriented business in solving social problems both in general and in the agricultural sector in particular are considered. The positive aspects of the implementation of social entrepreneurship projects are identified and the expediency of their development is determined. A classification of social entrepreneurship is presented and a description of its characteristics is given. The directions for improving the sustainability of the food safety system of Russia through the creation of socially oriented business centres have been identified.
