Abstract: The efficiency of creating and using the variety is related to the economic indicators of yield; costs; production costs; net income; profitability level, income of owners of rights to the variety. The article proposes a methodology for assessing the effectiveness of creating and using a variety in horticulture, characterized by detailing costs and income, highlighting the pre-breeding stage, stages of creating a variety, replicating, producing fruits and berries and post-production. The technique is tested using the example of garden strawberries. The structure of costs for cultivar breeding is presented, which makes it possible to predict the costs of creating new varieties, determine the terms and conditions for payback.
