Abstract: The purpose of this study is to analyze the experience of the most successful enterprises in each of the agricultural sectors that participated in national projects aimed at increasing labour productivity. A comparison of public information on the results of the implementation of lean production tools and methods and the results of the analysis of performance indicators of enterprises based on official reporting has been carried out. The factors that act as constraints for the implementation of methods to improve the operational efficiency of enterprises in the agro-industrial complex are identified. More attention is being paid to one of the leading supporting industries, agricultural engineering. The industry, like the automotive industry, belongs to the machine-building complex, which determines their similarity in technology, processes and structure. The most striking examples of the effective implementation of lean manufacturing are the automotive industry, which generates quite high expectations from the results of the implementation of the methodology in enterprises producing machinery for agriculture. The article examines the experience of industry-leading enterprises, analyses information, and identifies factors that limit the ability to implement tools and methods to improve production efficiency and labour productivity. The article also provides an overview of the experience of implementing lean manufacturing in enterprises of other branches of the Russian agro-industrial complex.
