Abstract: The article examines the impact of fish oil and fish meal production on the development of aquaculture through the lens of economics, resource sustainability, and technological innovations. It discusses supply chains, demand and supply dynamics, and the prospects for replacing traditional ingredients with more sustainable alternatives. Fish oil and fish meal remain important feed components for many types of agricultural fish, as they form the basic part of protein-fat support for aquaculture. The transition to sustainable sources, the development of alternatives and increased cooperation between the industry, the scientific community and regulators will reduce the risks of price volatility, enhance environmental sustainability and support the further growth of aquaculture.
