Abstract: The purpose of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the level, problems and prospects of digitalization of the Russian agro-industrial complex. The methodological basis was a comparative analysis (benchmarking) with the leading countries based on the digitalization index of Yakov and Partners, as well as an analysis of Rosstat statistics for 2020-2024. The key problems of digital transformation have been identified: fragmented digitalization (carried out mainly by large holdings), an acute shortage of IT specialists (the need is about 90 thousand people), underinvestment in agricultural science (60 times less than in the United States) and the persistence of «digital inequality» in rural areas. Based on the analysis of the best international practices (USA, Netherlands, Germany, Israel, etc.) and current trends in Russia, measures are proposed to stimulate the acceleration of digital transformation, including the implementation of strategic government projects until 2030, the creation of a unified digital agribusiness platform, the adaptation of the education system and targeted support for small farms. It is concluded that it is necessary to move from a policy of total control to the creation of an ecosystem that stimulates innovative development, which will allow Russia to take its rightful place in the fast-growing global market of digital agriculture.
