Abstract: This article examines trends in working capital use at agricultural organizations in the Smolensk region and their impact on business performance. It is established that the period under review has seen an increase in production volumes and a simultaneous increase in the need for working capital, while their turnover has slowed. A stable direct relationship is revealed between the intensity of working capital use and the level of product and asset profitability. It is substantiated that digitalization of the agricultural sector is an important factor in improving the efficiency of working capital management by reducing time lags, optimizing inventories, and increasing the transparency of accounting and analytical processes. Econometric modeling confirmed the positive impact of accelerated capital turnover on key financial performance indicators of agricultural organizations. According to calculations, a one-unit increase in turnover rate results in a 7.9% increase in working capital return, a 1.8% increase in asset return, and a 1.4% increase in output return, confirming an increase in the overall economic return on resources deployed. The proposed priorities for improving efficiency include the implementation of digital accounting and planning systems, optimization of production inventories, and the development of logistics infrastructure. Implementation of these measures will accelerate working capital turnover and improve the financial stability of agricultural enterprises in the region. The total economic impact of implementing the proposed measures for agricultural organizations in the Smolensk region could range from 0.6 to 1.7 billion rubles in freed working capital per year, an increase in the turnover ratio by 0.15-0.25 percentage points, and a reduction in the duration of a single turnover by 20-30 days. This leads to an increase in asset return by 2.5-4% and increased financial stability of farms.
