Abstract: This article presents a methodological approach to assessing the sustainability of a region's spatial development. It utilizes a system of indicators characterizing the distribution of productive forces, population, infrastructure, and the level of environmental safety throughout the region. A comprehensive analysis of the sustainability of the spatial development of Krasnodar Krai is conducted, revealing a pronounced asymmetry in the spatial organization of the region's economy. This is manifested in the accelerated concentration of resources and infrastructure congestion around the city of Krasnodar and along the Black Sea coast, while inland agricultural regions are experiencing demographic decline and social degradation. A substantiation of measures aimed at improving the sustainability of the spatial development of Krasnodar Krai is provided. These measures include stimulating the differentiation of agricultural businesses, creating a system of "anchor" cities, and implementing spatial planning and economic regulation tools. Implementation of the proposed measures will redistribute economic resources across the region, enhance the competitiveness of manufactured products, and reduce social inequality, significantly enhancing the sustainability of the regional economy.
