Abstract: Competitive advantages show the superiority of some objects over others, the superiority of their characteristics and properties. Quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods are used to assess competitive advantages. The article shows the results of a comprehensive quantitative assessment of rural areas, and qualitative analysis applied in the selection of beautiful villages and towns. Clear competitive advantages of rural areas are significant features that are perceived as superior, created by material and intangible assets, sometimes regardless of the activities of economic entities in the territory. Among the obvious competitive advantages, the advantages of strong settlements were highlighted and analyzed, the dependence of the quality of life on territorial remoteness from the centers of the region was shown.
