Abstract: Innovations are becoming a driver of agricultural transformation, allowing solving a complex of social, economic and environmental problems related to the implementation of the strategy for the sustainable development of agriculture. The article analyzes the main indicators of innovative development of agriculture. It is noted that Russian agriculture lags behind developed countries in terms of innovation activity and implementation. New production methods in agriculture are identified that promote sustainable development and comply with the principles of biologization and environmental safety, among which precision farming technologies have become the most widespread in Russia. One of the key methods of innovative cultivation of agricultural crops within the framework of the concept of sustainable development is organic farming. However, in Russia, due to various reasons (high certification costs, insufficient state support, difficulties in logistics of enterprises), organic farming has an extremely limited distribution.
