Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the problems of development of Russian agricultural production in the context of the implementation of the concept of supporting settlements (CSC), the main tasks of which are to ensure spatial equilibrium, rational distribution of productive forces, balanced socio-economic development of the regions of the Russian Federation. The analysis of the current state and load on the potential in the agricultural sector of the economy, as well as the study of statistical data, information from federal and regional authorities allowed us to identify different conditions for the sustainable development of agricultural production. To verify the results obtained, a cartogram was created, which made it possible to focus on the current problems of the development of agricultural production. It is concluded that the range of main tasks should include the need to assess the conditions for using the resource base of rural areas, the current economic situation (industry structure, employment, etc.), key development drivers that can have the greatest impact on the economic growth of agricultural production and improving the quality of life of the rural population.
