Abstract: The purpose of this article is to analyze the current state of the tourist and recreational system of the Sakhalin Region, identify key problems and identify promising areas for its further development. The Sakhalin Region has a unique natural, cultural and historical potential for the development of tourism. The article analyzes the current state of the tourist and recreational system of the Sakhalin Region, identifies the main problems hindering its development, and suggests promising areas for increasing the region's competitiveness in the domestic and international tourism markets. Despite the significant potential, the development of tourism in the Sakhalin region faces a number of problems that require a comprehensive solution.
