Abstract: The article is devoted to the issues of staffing of agriculture in Russia and its impact on the development of the industry. The authors put forward a hypothesis of dependence of the level of development of the agricultural sector, the growth of the country's domestic food security, regarding the achievement of staffing of agricultural entities with highly qualified managers, specialists and workers of mass professions capable of achieving an increase in agricultural production and expansion of the export potential of the industry. The article presents an analysis of the staffing of agriculture in the Russian Federation, in particular, the authors reflect the dynamics of the personnel composition of farmers for 2019-2023; assessment of the current state of staffing of the agricultural industry by managers and specialists; a comparative analysis of the personnel deficit of agriculture in Russia with the number of graduates of agricultural vocational education institutions in 2023 was performed. In addition, the authors proposed directions for the formation of high-quality personnel support for the sustainable development of agriculture in the country.
