Abstract: In domestic agriculture, the degree of depreciation of fixed assets is 42.7% (2022), which characterizes the high relevance of activating investment processes, primarily in small farms. Analysis of the activities of peasant (farmer) enterprises and individual entrepreneurs ("heads of peasant (farm) households" and "individual entrepreneurs") showed that the highest revenue per employee is generated by medium-sized farms, at the same time; this value has quite low values, which greatly limits the ability to attract investment. In this regard, government support measures are an important factor in the development of farms. Analysis of the cost of fixed assets and investments in the context of types of activities of individual entrepreneurs in agricultural production showed the leadership of individual entrepreneurs in the following sectors: "growing annual crops" (mainly, "growing cereals (except rice), leguminous crops and oilseeds") and "livestock". The main problems of investment activity development in farms are revealed: the predominant growth of costs in relation to the selling price and, as a result, a drop in demand for agricultural machinery; insufficient competence of farmers to process applications and other necessary documentation, lack of skills in working with state information systems; personnel shortage. It is proposed to adapt to Russian conditions the experience of the European association "Maschinenring", within the framework of which farmers-owners of machinery do not provide it for use by members of the association, but independently perform field work both for themselves and for other farmers. The main findings of the study are given in the conclusion.
