Abstract: The level of profitability of crop production is significantly influenced by sales prices. In harvest years, as a rule, sales prices for crop products decrease and the level of profitability is low. Using the example agricultural organization, the authors show the influence of cow productivity on the level of profitability of milk production (with an increase in milk yield per 1 average annual cow, the level of profitability of milk production increases). Agricultural organizations suffer losses when fattening cattle, since the production cost of 1 centner of cattle growth remains high and amounts to 21,570.63 rubles. The reasons are formulated that do not allow obtaining a level of profitability of crop and livestock production sufficient for expanded reproduction (low quality of seed material, insufficient level of equipment and technical base, reduction in the number of cows, reduction in the sown area of forage crops). The financial indicators of the activities of organizations in the Penza region for the main types of economic activity were considered, which showed that with the current state support for commodity producers, the profitability of production of products, works and services remains low and amounts to 24.9%.
