Abstract: The article defines the projected values of the material and technical base (the average annual cost of fixed assets), the required values of the stock of workers employed in agriculture, necessary to ensure food security, in the context of a downward trend in the number of people employed in agriculture in the country. A critical review of approaches to the definition of food independence has been carried out. An analytical extension of the calculation of food self-sufficiency has been performed, which makes it possible to form a dependence of the resulting indicator of self–sufficiency on the factors of material and technical equipment of agricultural production - the return on agricultural production and the capital intensity of domestic consumption. The calculation of the amount of investments necessary to achieve indicators of food self-sufficiency is formalized. The indicator of food self-sufficiency is being developed through the introduction of variables in the number of people employed in agriculture and the stock of their labor. The trends of the indicated indicators are characterized, trend lines are determined, which make it possible to determine the forecast dynamics of the factors of population and stock ratio with the greatest possible reliability.
