Abstract: The study examines the transformation of the category of organic agriculture in the context of the interpretation of modern scientists and economists. The methods and factors of increasing the efficiency of organic agriculture in their methodological interaction are highlighted. The world experience of organic farming is considered from the position of the structure of the area with organic certification. The structure of the sown areas of the Russian Federation by agricultural organizations engaged in production by traditional and organic methods is analyzed. Monitoring of information on the volume of sales of organic products of the crop industry in 2022 was carried out with the definition of the organization, type of products and size. The Krasnodar Territory and the Orel region take the leading positions in the production of organic wheat, while the Tomsk region is the leader in production of organic peas, oats, and soybeans. The factors constraining Russian organic crop production are identified: international sanctions, COVID-19, decrease in consumer demand. Recommendations for improving the efficiency of organic crop production are highlighted: compensation for losses of agricultural organic producers, use of optimized forms of organizational and technological process for the production of organic crop products, improvement of institutional management conditions.
