Abstract: The analysis of the dynamics of the composition and structure of the rural population in the country is carried out in the article. A model of multiple regression has been developed that reflects the influence of physical volumes of production of certain types of agricultural products produced in various forms of agricultural management on the dynamics of the rural population of Russia. It is concluded that as a result of the implementation of market reforms, the local rural economy found itself in a crisis situation, which was a consequence of the destruction of former collective farms and state farms. The situation also does not improve in the post-reform period due to the activity of agro-industrial formations of the holding type. A significant impact on the development of the local rural economy of the physical production volumes of households and agricultural organizations. The impact of the agricultural sector's production activities on the local rural economy is extremely insignificant. The proposals aimed at creating favorable conditions for the consolidation of the population in local rural societies are formulated.
