Abstract: The article sets out the content of the main functions of wages in agriculture and justifies the need to implement an additional function that ensures compensation for the non-reproducible advantages of the city in terms of living conditions in the countryside. The analysis of inter industrial ratios of nominal average monthly wages in agriculture in the pre- and post-perestroika period and the average hourly wage is given. The dynamics of real wages in agriculture, the ratio of the payment of agricultural labour with the subsistence minimum of the working-age population are presented. Regional differences in the ratio of wages in agriculture with the regional value of PM are analyzed. A comparative analysis of the specific weight of labour costs for employees in GDP and GVA, created in all sectors of the economy and agriculture, was carried out. The situation with overdue wage arrears is considered. The ratios in the dynamics of wages in agriculture, labour productivity and the volume of exports of agricultural products were revealed. Based on the results of the analysis, the main directions for increasing wages in agriculture were formulated.
