Abstract: Agriculture is one of the basic sectors of the country's economy. Food security of the population, the standard of living of the population in rural areas, the level of development of related industries depend on the level of development of regional agriculture. In this regard, the study of the peculiarities and patterns of the development of agriculture in the region, the identification of points of its growth and the forecasting of the main indicators of development becomes extremely urgent. Assessment of the current state of agriculture and further prospects for its development is possible on the basis of studying the levels of implementation of the functions of agriculture. At present, there is no unified approach to understanding the functions of agriculture and assessing the level of their implementation at the regional level, which confirms the need for additional research. In the article, the authors proposed a methodology for assessing the level of implementation of agricultural functions and, using the example of the Kemerovo region –Kuzbass, it was tested. It is shown that the production and tourist-recreational functions for the selected region are realized to a greater extent.
