Abstract: In article domestic and foreign experience of formation of system of wholesale trade is considered. The wholesale trade has the features in each country caused by certain customs, traditions and existence of appropriate resources. Wholesale food structures in all countries with market economy are supported by the state. The wholesale food markets constantly improve the work, render new types of service, adapting to requirements of the buyer. In Russia, unlike other countries, the wholesale food markets and distribution centers function in various organizational and legal forms, use the fruit and vegetable warehouses constructed during the pre-perestroika period, bases of consumer cooperation, refrigerators and other objects of market infrastructure which demand modernization for their effective functioning today. The condition of strengthening of competitive positions of the wholesale market is a decrease in expenses and improvement of quality of the rendered services.
