Abstract: The article studies the efficiency of milk production of Holstein cows of different breeds. As you know, the efficiency of dairy cattle breeding can be significantly increased both by increasing the milk yield of cows and by organizing the production of high quality milk, which can be sold at a higher price. One of the urgent problems is to increase the production of livestock products and improve its quality to better meet and meet the growing needs of the population, in this connection, there is a need to form an effective organization of production in accordance with the prevailing economic conditions. Based on our research revealed that most of the high yielding heifers were Danish (7464 kg), and American cow-heifers with low yield of milk (6793 kg). According to the qualitative characteristics of milk studied animals had approximately the same performance. In addition, the terms of the first fruitful insemination of Holstein heifers of different selection - from 13.3 to 16.4 months, and the optimal period was the age from 14.9 to 15.5 months. Thus, it was found that in order to further increase milk productivity, it is necessary to pay special attention to the first-calf cows of Danish selection, in order to fully realize the genetic potential of their milk productivity, since the efficiency of their use exceeds the Dutch first - calf cows by 2.1‰, American – by 9.9‰ and domestic-by 6.0‰.
