Abstract: The results of the study of organizational and economic mechanism of material and technical support of animal husbandry are presented. The article presents an analysis of the market of agricultural machinery for livestock. The niches in which there is a dependence on foreign suppliers are defined. To implement the management approach, we have justified the following stages and functions of management of the mechanism of technical modernization of agriculture at different levels. It is proved that the strengthening of the material and technical base of agricultural production is a complex issue, including both technical and technological modernization, provision of financial resources and scientific support, and without these components, dynamic and progressive development of agriculture is impossible. The proposed organizational and economic mechanism of technical modernization of agriculture provides for a close relationship between public authorities (at the Federal and regional levels), science (both engineering and economic), financial institutions (banks, leasing companies, insurance companies), organizations producing agricultural machinery and equipment in Russia, as well as agricultural organizations.
