Abstract: In modern conditions, the level of development of regional agriculture is insufficient. It is necessary to develop and implement measures aimed at improving the sustainable development of regional agriculture. The main purpose of the study is to analyze the effectiveness of agricultural organizations of the Penza region. In the article the peculiarities of the socio-economic development of the Penza region identified basic sector in the region, divided into six natural-economic zones. In agriculture and food industry of the Penza region it is possible to allocate following branches: manufacture of grain and products of its processing, manufacture of sugar and raw materials for processing, production and processing of milk, production and processing of meat. The analysis of the strategy of development of agriculture of the Penza region, allowed highlighting two of the strategic approach, and, as a result, two mechanisms of economic growth stimulation. The first approach is quite applicable in the conditions of incomplete use of available economic resources. The second approach should be applied in the case that, on the contrary, the production capacity is fully utilized. The "points of growth of agriculture" were chosen. The priority sectors of agribusiness development for the Penza region were identified for the perspective till 2030.
