Abstract: In this article we attempted to comprehensively analyse the effectiveness of undertaken measures in the fields of rural development monitoring, implementation of state programmes aimed at the improvement of living standards in rural areas and the functioning of all spheres of activity. For the most part, rural development monitoring is of the general nature and all about the complexity of assessment by quantitative metrics, implementation, and multiplicity of cause and effect relations, systemic and dynamic effects. Moreover, different methodologies of rural development assessment give different results, which make the comparisons more complex and ineffective. With this in mind, the methodology of rural development assessment through complex integral indicators is very important. The purpose of this research is the development of multifunctional rural development assessment methodology. To achieve this, we solved the problems of development of authored methodology on the integral assessment of multifunctional rural development ant problems of typology of rural areas. Proposed methodology allows assessing the dynamics and trends in rural development and creating measures on the improvement of regional policy aimed at multifunctional rural development.
