Abstract: The research objective is to analyze a condition of the market of grain in the European Union, the prospects of its development, to estimate risks of reality of the forecast. In article the current state of production and realization of grain in the European Union, the expected harvest and the market grain in 2016/17 marketing year are reflected. Expected balances of production, internal use and export-import potentials of grain cultures, including wheat are given. The European Commission predicts production of grain in the EU to bring to 309.0 million tons, growth of average productivity of grain is expected slowly - about 0.9‰ a year. Demand for grain will grow in the European countries due to increase in need for grain of the enterprises of the food industry and formula-feed plants. Consumption of grain in the EU by 2022 can reach 299.0 million tons. The main risks in the EU which can negatively influence achievement of the predicted indicators are noted: the become frequent abnormal weather conditions, the crisis phenomena in economy of the EU, an unstable political situation, the increasing competition in the world market of grain, the decentralized motives of a number of the countries, strikes of farmers, a mass migratory boom.
