Abstract: One of factors of growth of volumes of agricultural production is the developed system of seed farming. Research objective is to show a seed growing role in food supply of the country and the importance for realization of potential opportunities of a variety of respect for technology of cultivation, to reveal shortcomings of the organization of system of seed growing. During the research the analysis and statistical data processing is used, the factorial analysis is applied to an assessment of influence of productivity and acreage on gross collecting crops. During the research the conclusion is drawn on need of development of domestic seed growing as factor of food security and stable economic growth of branch of crop production. Data on seed-growing farms and patent holders of the selection achievements allowed to use are analyzed. It is noted that most the state selection and seed-growing institutions have outdated material and technological base, personnel problems that leads to difficulty in receiving quality sowing material.
