Abstract: The reform of agriculture begun in 1992 has created many problems on the way to market economy. A research objective is to consider stages of development of agriculture at a rural community, at the developed cooperation, in the period of collective farms, farming. Research methods are monographic and retrospective analysis. The conclusion is drawn on the importance of large agricultural production in food supply. Only the large agricultural enterprises will be able to carry out import substitution by domestic agricultural goods, to process the available lands, to create to workers social conditions, and personal subsidiary and farms can play in it only a supporting role. The author considers that the arable lands have to be used only for cultivation of agricultural production and be in state ownership.
