Abstract: In recent years, Russian exports increased in volume but decreased in value due to falling prices on the world market. The qualitative structure of it is changing also. Food exports are growing mainly at the expense of grain and oil, i.e. products with low added value. Geography of stable markets in food sales of Russia is limited to only 20 countries. Attractive for export markets in developed countries are well protected and put up insurmountable barriers to entry for Russian exporters, but the potential markets of Asia and Africa are characterized by unstable market conditions. According to the results of the survey of managers and specialists of large companies of the agro-industrial complex of Russia, which imported abroad, identified the main internal and external problems of export development. The development of export of agricultural raw materials and food has to be comprehensive, systematic and to include activities at global, regional and national levels of governance.
