Abstract: In article theoretical aspects of economic integration are considered, classification of regional economic formations of several schools of sciences is presented, and also experience of their formation and functioning is opened. The main formats of integration (the free trade zone, the customs union, the economic union, the currency union, payment banking association, the political union) and the functions corresponding to them are considered. Authors understand under regional integration forms any merging of the states created for increase in efficiency of trade, economic and other processes. On the basis of the international and regional experience of integration the mechanism of options of integration into the system integrator, dynamics of transformation of formats of functioning of regional integration formations and evolution of their structure is considered. On the basis of results of the analysis the short characteristic and effect of use of new generation of mechanisms of formation of integration formations is provided.
