Abstract: The challenges that Russia faces due to food embargo and entering the Eurasian Economic Union are tackled. Introduction of a ban on deliveries of foodstuff from the countries of the European Union, the USA and Australia has marked a new era of an agrarian policy of Russia. Food embargo has led to the fact that food prices have grown, and total amounts of import have fallen in dollar expression. In general the dependence on import of Russia on the food is rather steady by years: during the period from 2002 to 2014 it fluctuated in the range of 11-13‰. At the same time Russia is a large exporter of the food. Food embargo has influenced also change of the purposes of agrofood policy of Russia. The task of stimulation of the increase in production of main types of agricultural production and foodstuff directed to import substitution and sales promotion of agricultural production is set. Recently the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has taken a number of concrete steps for revision of procedures for granting of support towards abolition of the measures which are most distorting the market. In general Russia maintains operation schedule of reduction of rates of the import duties and observes the level of the state support, provided by her obligations to the WTO. Important question is a harmonization of agricultural policy of the countries which united in EEAS.
