Abstract: The article examines the existing theories of agriculture production location based on the efficient use of economic and natural factors. The analyzed western theories concentrate attention on rational behaviour of economic subjects in economic space, the Russian theories were standard, but today they give an opportunity to overcome consequences of economic crises and to construct socially oriented economy on the basis of design of effective and steady regional agro food systems. The emergence and application of economic-mathematical models has allowed realizing numerous theoretical ideas of effectively functioning agriculture taking into account and detailed study of all factors defining its productivity. The information technology including system of models and the database for a solution of the problem of effective placement of agriculture on regions of Russia in the conditions of long-term climatic changes is offered. It will allow to refuse the consumer concept of placement providing with own production intra regional consumption in favour of rational use of all complex of regional factors, including production resources, and formation of zones of effective commodity production with the subsequent interregional exchange. Such approach will strengthen interregional relations, will strengthen the Russian Federation as the state education.
