Abstract: In the current economic conditions, specialization has a great economic importance, as it has a positive impact on the development of agricultural production. However, integrated solution of the problem of development of specialization of agricultural production in the new economic conditions has not been adequately reflected. In scientific economic literature there are many theoretical approaches to the interpretation of the category "specialization of agricultural production", they are based on different judgments. Development of the most common approach to the formulation of this category will be an important component of the theoretical platform in the development of agro-industrial complex. This article analyzed the various aspects of specialization of agricultural production, identified and systematized the most significant factors for agriculture and the indicators of specialization through monographic, abstract-logical, analytical and other methods. Proposed author's vision of the essence of the category "specialization of production", considers the features of specialization in agriculture, systematic factors that have a direct impact on the specialization of agricultural production, and also considers the level and efficiency of agricultural specialization.
